PROFESSIONAL TEETH CLEANING

Teeth covered with tartar and plaque decay easily. Dental plaque is an accumulation of bacteria, viruses and fungi, which cause caries, gum diseases and bad breath. This, in turn, triggers pain and tooth loss, as well as gum bleeding.

A PROFESSIONAL CLEANING PROCEDURE FOLLOWS A FEW STAGES:

1. The first stage is performed with an ultrasound scaler and it is usually painless for patients. The tip of the scaler crushes hard tartar deposits without damaging the surface of the enamel.

2. The second stage is sandblasting. The commonly called baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is sprayed in a pressurized form, removing stains and discoloration which appear because of dark beverages, food and smoking. Sandblasting is not harmful to the enamel.

3. Another stage is polishing, which aims at smoothing out teeth surfaces in order to prevent tartar deposition.

4. The last stage of professional teeth cleaning is fluoridation, i.e. covering teeth with fluoride varnish or mousse. Fluoridation protects teeth against caries and reduces their sensitivity. A visit ends with an instruction on proper teeth brushing, recommendation of the most suitable toothpaste and mouth wash. The tendency to develop tartar varies and depends on a diet, smoking and content of saliva.

A teeth cleaning treatment should be repeated every 6 months. It is an absolute condition for maintaining the guarantee of treatment.
